Barcelona triumphed in the first clasico of the season to bag six points against their bitter rivals. Real Madrid clinches a 2-1 victory at the Camp Nou due to the vital goals fromNeymar and Alexis Sanchez.
The match showed clearly that Gareth Bale will have to await his chance to make an impression on a clásico. It was a great show of skill of Spanish football.
On 19 minutes Neymar delivered a lead with a neat finish from a narrow angle. After few minutes Lionel Messi missed a great chance to double the lead.
On the hour mark, Bale was replaced by Karim Benzema. But it was Alexis Sanchez for Barcelona sealed the points from 12 minutes remaining of the match with a fabulous chip over Diego Lopez.
Substitute Jese Rodriguez tried his best to pull Madrid back in stoppage time, but it was too late as Barca bagged six points clear against Madrid.
"I am very happy for the victory, the three points and also for my goal. Every player wants to play in this game and I will go home very happy," Sanchez told GOL TV.
"The team have shown face against a very difficult opponent," said Sergio Ramos.
"We have put Barca in difficulty, it is not easy to see them waste time, but there were two clear penalties and, although I don't like to judge referees, there are things against which you cannot fight."
Real Madrid’s star Ronaldo was found in his vociferous appeal for a penalty after Javier Mascherano appeared to bring him down. But the referee ignored him. Then Benzema smashed a shot off the bar from 20 yards. "It's always the same," complained the Real Madrid full-back Marcelo. "Both penalties were very clear."
Neymar was the star of the show on first ‘EI Clasico’ as Bale and Ronaldo was stifled.
