Sachin Tendulkar brings down curtain on his sparkling career by announcing his retirement after his 200th match against the West Indies next month. Tendulkar's 200th Test match is likely to be held at his home ground in Mumbai from November 14.
The 40-year-old Tendulkar has informed the BCCI about his decision of retirement from Test cricket and putting an end the most debatable speculation about his career. There has been increasing pressure on him due to his poor form. The decision may not have been surprising as he wants to hand over younger players the vital duty that he has been performing from since 24 years.
“All my life, I have had a dream of playing cricket for India. I have been living this dream every day for the last 24 years. It’s hard for me to imagine a life without playing cricket because it’s all I have ever done since I was 11 years old. It’s been a huge honour to have represented my country and played all over the world. I look forward to playing my 200th Test Match on home soil, as I call it a day.”
- Tendulkar announced in the release issued by BCCI Secretary, Sanjay Patel. Tendulkar thanked the BCCI for its helping hand throughout his career.

BCCI president N Srinivasan said-
"I have been an ardent follower and admirer of Sachin Tendulkar from the days he came to play Buchi Babu in Chennai. He is without doubt the greatest cricketer India has produced. In fact, one should really say he ranks among the top of all-time great sportspersons in the world,"
