The All India Football
Federation (AIFF) has submitted its bid to host the prestigious 2017 FIFA U-17
World Cup.
During June of this
year The Union Cabinet on approved a proposal for submitting guarantees sought
by the AIFF from the central government for their bid to host the 2017 FIFA
U-17 World Cup.
This football
tournament is a prestigious event and would be held in India for the first
time, if the All India Football Federation (AIFF) succeeds in its bid. AIFF
proposed holding matches in five States: Delhi, West Bengal, Maharashtra,
Karnataka and one among the states of Assam, Goa and Kerala. AIFF and football's
world governing body FIFA have agreed to bear the entire expenditure of hosting
the tournament. The amounts required are to be raised through sponsorship and
other commercial agreements.
"We are happy that we could submit all the necessary bid documents before the deadline, I am grateful to our President Mr. (Praful) Patel for the initiative taken in following up with the Government in terms of the guarantees required, and ensuring all the guarantees were ready and could be submitted in time”: AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das said.

Dhar submitted the bid documents to FIFA's Director of Competitions Division
Mustapha Fahmy at the FIFA Headquarters in Zurich on Tuesday.
"I was at Zurich to submit our bid documents for hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017. The bid will be taken up in the FIFA Executive Committee meeting on December 3, FIFA was very happy to receive the guarantees from the Government and the official bid from AIFF. We are eagerly waiting for the final verdict now," Mr Dhar added.
Other nations competing
for the bid include Uzbekistan, Ireland and 2010 World Cup host South Africa.
The bidding countries
are required to submit written guarantees on tax exemptions for broadcasters
and sponsors, foreign exchange remittances, security, transport and
accommodation of players, and visa, among others.
