Kohli, Rohit-Two prodigies guide India to easy win

Sparkling half-centuries of two Indian stars- Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma helped India taking their firm grip over West Indies by thrashing the visitors by six wickets in the opening ODI of the three-match series.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s half-century gives India  a comfortable breath of six-wicket victory over the West Indies in the Star Plus Trophy One-Day International series opener at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on 21-11-13.

Spin magic of Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina crushed the low and slow conditions of the
Nehru Stadium wicket effectively to bundle out West Indies for a meagre 211 in 48.5 overs.

Indian batting maestro- Kohli touched Viv Richards’ record for the fastest to reach the 5000-run mark in ODIs, achieving it in 114 innings.

Kohli  bagged 86 off 84 balls, while Rohit made 72 off 81 balls. This partnership helped India chased down the target  easily in 35.2 overs and take a 1-0 lead in the series. Rohit bagged his 19th ODI fifty off 53 balls as India reached the 100-run mark in 15.3 overs.

Kohli weaved his innings with nine boundaries and two huge sixes, while Rohit's innings was decorated with eight hits to the fence and one over it.

West Indies bowlers failed to shine as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s attacking approach from the beginning took the game out of the visitor's grasp.
